Our baby swimming lessons are grouped by age this is to ensure all activitiesSplash stars are appropriate for your child’s age and stage of development.

Twinkle Stars – 0 – 7 Months – a lovely relaxed introduction to the pool and the Splash Stars program, with focus on relaxation, early swimming introducing small underwater swim back to parent, bonding, floating, back swimming, alignment and building your little Splash Star a good foundation to swimming in this relaxed baby swimming lesson. Our children’s swimming classes are jam packed with fun, focused and progressive activities with a friendly atmosphere and a highly trained caring teacher!

Shooting Stars – 8 – 16 Months – A fun, fast paced, child led class which works on building water confidence, teaching babies vital lifesaving skills, alignment, back swimming, underwater swims are more independent, jumping in and swimming back to wall/parent to name but a few in the fun baby swimming lesson teaching babies early independent swimming.  Our children’s swimming classes are jam packed with fun, focused and progressive activities with a friendly atmosphere and a highly trained caring teacher

Shining Stars – 17m – 2 years – Our baby swimmers are now progressing into our toddler swimming lessons. This class is high paced, fun and focused. Our activities are child led and cater to many different abilities. Your toddler will be learning water confidence, early independent swimming, vital lifesaving skills and having lots of fun. Not only will you be amazed at seeing your baby swimming independently and gaining so much water confidence you will be spending quality fun time with your child every week! Our children’s swimming classes are jam packed with fun, focused and progressive activities with a friendly atmosphere and a highly trained caring teacher!

Stars 2- 4 years – Our Stars are building their water confidence in a fun, progressive class, we work with children to build their confidence with getting their face wet working towards swimming with their eyes in the water! Our teachers are child led and will never force but give children the skills, confidence and knowledge to make those choices for themselves! This class also teachers our children vital lifesaving skills such turning to a point of safety, climbing out, holding on and floating on their backs! Our children’s swimming classes are jam packed with fun, focused and progressive activities with a friendly atmosphere and a highly trained caring teacher!

Super Stars 2- 5 years – Our super Stars are just that! These tiny tots are able to do things that some much older children struggle with! Swimming with their eyes in the water working towards gaining their very first distance award by swimming 5 meters with their head down and lifting their head rhythmically to breathe! They are able to initiate their own swims and enjoy every aspect of swimming and are beaming with water confidence! In this class we are starting to introduce correct strokes, such as front crawl straight leg kick and over arms, Breaststroke action and back crawl! We are taking their confidence and putting it to good use to develop them into beautiful swimmers! Our children’s swimming classes are jam packed with fun, focused and progressive activities with a friendly atmosphere and a highly trained caring teacher!

How are your children’s swimming lessons grouped?
Our swimming lessons for children are grouped by ability we teach beginner swimming lessons through to advanced swimmers, in small classes sizes of a maximum of 1 teacher to 6 students!

Level 1:
StarAcademy Level one Ages 4+ – Our Children swimming lessons for beginners are fun, confidence building classes in a nurturing environment. Our teachers are highly trained and understand how to work with children to motivate and encourage them to achieve. In our lessons we never use arm bands of disks as we believe the best way is to learn to swim is without relying on flotation devices, our children learn to swim correctly without ever having to rely on any thing other than than their own confidence and the trust they have in their teacher! You will be amazed how in a matter of you weeks your nervous child will be coming out of their shell and achieving thing you or they never thought possible! Beginners swimming lessons like you IMG_9678have never seen before! We pride our selves on our high quality swimming lessons! Our children’s swimming classes are jam packed with fun, focused and progressive activities with a friendly atmosphere and a highly trained caring teacher!

In our Level one class children will be working towards

Progressing towards leaning outcomes such as:
Answer 2 water safety questions
Enter the water with a step or jump entry, turn around and swim back to poolside
Push and glide into either front crawl or breaststroke for 5 metres
Push and glide into back crawl, and swim for 5 metres
Perform a star float on the front or back, and hold for 3 seconds
Perform dolphin leg kick on the front or back for 2 metres
Scull head first, using a woggle
Attempt breaststroke – may use a woggle for support
Tread water for 10 seconds
Swim forward for 2 metres and then roll onto back, swim on the back for 2 metres and roll into a standing position (regaining feet)

Once they have achieved all this and more the will move into level two.

Level 2:
StarAcademy level two Ages 4+– Our Improvers children’s swimming lessons teach your child the ins and outs of a correct stroke, focus is on building stamina and working towards swimming a comfortable, effective, effortless stroke. Our children’s swimming classes are jam packed with fun, focused and progressive activities with a friendly atmosphere and a highly trained caring teacher!

In StarAcademy level two children will be working towards learning outcomes such as:IMG_9976
Perform 2 different types of entries and tread water for 15 seconds each time; performed in shoulder-deep water
Swim 15 metres of back crawl
Swim 15 metres of a recognised front stroke, either front crawl or breaststroke
Swim 10 metres, holding a float under each arm, using lifesaving backstroke leg kick
Swim 5 metres, dolphin leg kick on front
Swim 5 metres, dolphin leg kick on back
Perform a handstand with both hands on the pool floor; performed in chest-deep water
Perform a horizontal float on the back and hold for 5 seconds, roll on to the front, hold for 5 seconds, roll to the original back float position and hold for 5 seconds
Submerge, push and glide on the side, roll to a face down position

Once they have achieved all of this they will move into level three.

Level 3:
StarAcademy level three Ages 4+– In our StarAcademy level three children’s swimming lessons, we work on building and refining strokes such as breaststroke, backstroke, front crawl and butterfly we teach your child the ins and outs of a correct stroke, focus is on building stamina and working towards swimming a comfortable, effective, effortless stroke as well as having lots of fun, enjoying the water and learning vital lifesaving skills. Our children’s swimming classes are jam packed with fun, focused and progressive activities with a friendly atmosphere and a highly trained caring teacher!

Children will be working towards outcomes such as:

Be rescued by catching a rope
Perform a straddle entry and tread water for 30 seconds while wearing a T-shirt. Remove the T-shirt and climb out unassisted. If the IMG_9792water is too shallow, substitute step entry and support scull
Perform a head-first and feet-first surface dive. If in shallow water, perform an underwater push and glide to pool floor
Scull feet first for 10 metres and head first for 10 metres
Swim 25 metres of back crawl using a correct finish
Swim 25 metres of a recognised front stroke, incorporating a correct finish. Learner’s first choice
Swim 20 metres of recognised front stroke, incorporating a correct finish. Learner’s second choice
Swim 5 metres of butterfly
Push and glide into a handstand – must be performed in tummy-deep or to chest-deep water
Perform a sitting dive, depending on the depth of water. If in shallow water, perform underwater push and glide, roll onto back while underwater and surface in a back glide.

Level 4:
StarAcademy level four Ages 4+– In our StarAcademy level four children’s swimming lessons, we work on building and refining strokes such as breaststroke, backstroke, front crawl and butterfly we teach your child the ins and outs of a correct stroke, competitive starts and turns focus is on building stamina and working towards swimming a comfortable, effective, effortless stroke. Our children’s swimming classes are jam packed with fun, focused and progressive activities with a friendly atmosphere and a highly trained caring teacher!

They will be working towards outcomes such as:

Throw a rope over 5 metres
Enter the water with a straddle entry, swim 25 metres in a recognised stroke in a T-shirt and shorts, tread water or scull support for 1 minute, tread water for 1 minute waving one arm, surface dive, swim 5 metres underwater, surface and remove clothing. If in shallow water, substitute straddle jump for step- in or slide-in entry
Swim 100 metres of a recognised stroke on the front, incorporating the appropriate start, turns, and finish. Learner’s first choiceIMG_0420
Swim 50 metres of a recognised front stroke, incorporating the appropriate start, turns and finish. Learner’s second choice
Swim 100 metres of back crawl incorporating the appropriate start, turns and finish
Swim 25 metres of a fourth recognised stroke, not undertaken in the other tests
Swim 4 x 1 length of individual medley, incorporating the appropriate transition procedure at the end of each stroke
Perform a competitive start for two separate strokes using two different stances that is legal for the depth of water available
Swim 50 metres of side stroke or old English backstroke
Perform a head-first surface dive and pick up a sinkable toy from the bottom of the pool, minimum depth of 1.5 metres.
